Adopting a dog

Considering adopting a dog?

Adopting a dog can be one of the most rewarding experiences for you, your family and the dog.

It is important to consider your lifestyle, how a dog will fit into your everyday family life, and how much time you are able to commit to your new canine family member.

Dogs are like fingerprints – each one is very different. You will need to think about how much time you have for walking the dog, playing with and training it, how long your dog might be left alone, and whether you have other pets or young children in your household to consider.

Different dogs and breeds have varying needs and personalities, and this is something to bear in mind to help you find your ideal dog. Bansko Street Dogs will work with you to help you decide which dog might be most suitable for your circumstances.

We ask that everyone looking to adopt has given it plenty of thought, and is open to the suggestions of potential matches. There are a few times you shouldn’t be looking to bring a new dog home, and we ask you to wait until your circumstances change before applying to adopt – when you have or are having a new baby, when you have a new animal at home who already needs time to settle, when you are already having issues with an animal at home, or when you are moving house. When everything is settled and you are able to welcome a new dog as part of your family, we would of course then love to hear from you!
